Our 18 bedroom Skeabost is situated in 23 acres of woodland on the edge of a loch, with views out to sea and crofting hamlets. It is the only hotel on Skye with its golf course – a nine-hole 18 tee shoreline challenge. The fast flowing River Snizort which runs through the grounds provides excellent salmon and trout fishing.
Our Ghillie Danny organised a low key opening of the fishing season on the River Snizort on Feb 11th.
In line with Scottish Government restrictions on 4th January we are currently closed but busy ensuring that when we reopen our doors, you’ll receive the best possible experience — this is our top priority. We are still on hand daily to swiftly answer your enquiries and will update you on our opening date very soon.
Team at Sonas Collection
Steeped in history, Skeabost is the third and latest addition to the group. Located centrally on the Isle of Skye, the 18 bedroom House is the only hotel on Skye with its own golf course – a nine-hole, shoreline challenge. The fast flowing River Snizort which runs through the grounds provides excellent salmon and trout fishing. The current building began life as a hunting lodge in 1871. It came into ownership of the Sonas Collection in 2015, and has been extensively refurbished. The renovation has artistically blended original features with contemporary furniture and fabrics, including tweeds in eye-catching colours, to create an enchanting ambience which oozes luxury, style and Victorian grandeur. Public areas provide surroundings to match any occasion, from sitting by the fire in the drawing room, reading a novel in the bright morning room, to dining in the award-winning restaurants.

The current building began life as a hunting lodge in 1871, but there has been a home of some sort at Skeabost since Viking times when the name meant The Sheltered House. On an island in the river are the ruins of two small chapels associated with St Columba – the first Christian missionary to Scotland. Skeabost has its own chapel, now a stunning private dining room.
The golf course is fun for the novice or expert alike and clubs are available for hire. The Snizort, one of the best rivers in Skye for sea trout and salmon, is open to guests and non-residents throughout the year (weather permitting), with the services of a ghillie if required.
Located seven miles from the main town of Portree, Skeabost is also ideally situated as a base for exploring an island regularly voted one of the most fascinating in the world. Management and staff enthusiastically share their local knowledge.
Lovingly restored and stunningly refurbished, this iconic hotel is an idyllic retreat in a jaw-dropping location on the Isle of Skye.
Skeabost House has a range of bedroom types and styles, from grand rooms with high ceilings and stunning period features, to our garden rooms which are full of contemporary style. All you have to do is decide which you prefer. The hotel has been extensively refurbished using beautiful, luxury fabrics and décor to compliment the historic building.
Skeabost House is a grand old family home that is welcoming to guests whatever the occasion.
Our public spaces lend themselves to different styles and sizes of functions, from a cosy afternoon tea for two to a large, traditional wedding with ceilidh dance. Each room has stunning features to make your time here memorable.
Tying the knot could not be more special than on romantic Skye, known as ‘The Misty Isle’ and the setting for many films. The wild, breathtaking scenery makes the perfect backdrop for those precious wedding moments.
The Sonas Collection is a small group of boutique hotels on the Isle, comprising Toravaig House, Duisdale House and Skeabost House Hotels. Each has a unique character and qualities that lend themselves perfectly to form the backdrop to the most romantic day of your life.
Our in-house wedding team are passionate about creating perfect weddings and have many glowing reviews that testify to that.
As a small family-run business, each wedding is personal to us. We invite our wedding couples to treat the hotel like their home. Nothing is too much trouble and we are here to make sure their day plays out exactly as planned. We love when the wedding party takes over the hotel exclusively so they can truly relax and enjoy a ‘house party’ atmosphere.
