Scotland is famous for its freshwater lochs and the Isle of Skye has some fantastic locations to go fly fishing for Trout. Our Ghillie Danny offers guided excursions to Loch Leathan & Loch Fada, also known as the Storr lochs. This is the quintessential loch fly fishing for wild Brown Trout & hard fighting Rainbow Trout.
The fishing is either from the bank or by boat and it can be a surreal experience with the Old Man of Storr as the backdrop.
The lochs are situated north of Portree and sit at the foot of the famous Old Man of Storr.
Both lochs offer fly fishing for wild Brown Trout, with the bigger of the two lochs (Leathan), offering fly fishing for hard fighting Rainbow Trout.
Both lochs are quite unique due to their Mayfly hatch, which is unusual around this area and it can really bring some fantastic sport.
The fishing can either be from the bank or depending on availability, from a traditional loch style Lomond boat. Tackle is provided during you guided excursion, with both half day and full day trips available.
Booking in advance is advised especially April to June, as this is the peak of the Trout fishing season.
